Cuban Metal Band Defects, Plays First US Show

In a gutsy move, HIPNOSIS became the first heavy metal band from Cuba to request political asylum. Waiting in line in Miami on an officially-sanctioned trip to play some gigs–and with a Cuban government minder standing right next to them–they told a customs official that they didn’t want to go back.

Imagine the reaction of the government guy.  I’ll bet that he suddenly didn’t want to go back, either.

HIPNOSIS played their first US show since the incident on Sunday.  Read their entire story–and it’s a good one–at Blabbermouth.
