Dave Grohl is having a terrible, awful, no-good week
If you’ve been scrolling through Twitter (I will never call it X) and Threads these past few days, you’ll have seen a lot of comments about Dave Grohl and his statement this week about fathering a child outside his marriage. Comments range from “mind your own business, it’s a private matter” to calling him out on all kinds of bad behavior–which, of course, is not a good look for the guy that’s been branded The Nicest Man in Rock.
Look, this kind of issue is hardly unique to rock stars. Just ask Liam Gallagher, Mick Jagger, and a ton of others. But this storm may last for a while in the age of social media (and with Dave’s image as a good husband to Jordyn Blum–married 2003–and a terrific father to his three daughters). Prepare for a lot of gossipy stuff, like how he allegedly hired a divorce lawyer ahead of his public statement.
Dave’s statement was an attempt to get ahead of the story before TMZ and New York Post types discovered the situation. But there was nothing he could do about the posts on social media, some of which are pretty vicious.
Finally, if you see an Instagram message posted under the name Roxie Junie Grohl, it’s fake. This is not from a newborn daughter or the mother.
Again, what happens in Dave’s personal life shouldn’t be anyone’s business, but when you’re a public figure, this kind of scrutiny comes with the territory. And rock stars behaving badly? Shocking, I tell you. Just…shocking.
