Dave Grohl Responds to the Italian #Rockin1000

You’ve probably heard by now that a thousand musicians gathered in Cesena, Italy, to perform “Learn to Fly” in hopes they’d get Dave Grohl’s attention and thereby get the Foo Fighters to commit to playing a show there. The Rockin’ 1000, as this outfit from northeastern Italy is called, is a pretty impressive group who raised the money for this event through crowdfunding. The more you learn about this group, the more you’re awed by their dedication.

The organization. The cinematography. The drone shots. The audio and video editing. Christ, look at the list of credits for this project! Pulling this off was hard.

In the end, they raised €44,788, which is just over $64,000 CAD.

Here’s Dave Grohl’s response.

Translation? “Thanks. See you soon.” What choice do the Foo Fighters have? They gotta go to Cesena. And wouldn’t you?

Final question: Can you name another rock band today that inspires this kind of devotion?
