Deezer says that 50% of new music being uploaded is AI
Deezer, the Paris-based streamer, is sounding the AI music alarm louder than all its competitors. It’s now warning of a new milestone.
As of June 2026, 90,000 AI-generated tracks were uploaded every day. That represents over 50% of all new music uploads to Deezer. This is an all-time high. And if this is happening at Deezer, you can bet that it’s also going on at Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music and the rest of them.
The trend has been accelerating for some time. In January 2025, the number of AI tracks uploaded numbered about 10,000 a day. A year or so later, it was up to 75,000. And it won’t be long before it’s at 100,000.
To its credit, Deezer has been very proactive, creating tools to detect and tag AI music. It also excludes AI music from any algorithm recommendations. Deezer is now taking down AI tracks used for streaming fraud. They’re also removing any AI music that hasn’t been streamed for six months.
The good news is that the number of AI streams is NOT going up. Only between 1 and 3% of all of Deezer’s streams are AI tracks. About 85% are considered “fraudulent,” and they’re all being swept away.
Back to the other streamers for a second. Spotify recently removed 75 million “spammy tracks” from its universe. Apple Music says that “more than a third” of its monthly uploads were “100% AI.”
This will (hopefully) spur the industry into speaking up its identification, tagging, and removal of AI tracks.
