He could be wearing the much-rumored Beats Studio Buds. Stories about their existence have been circulating ever since references to them were found in beta versions of iOS 14.6.
Apple, of course, bought Beats in 2014. We might find out more about the new buds June 7 when Apple kicks off its annual WWDC event.
