Concerts

Did you see what The Killers did when England played the Netherlands at the Euros?

Having a big UK concert on the same night the English football squad faced off against The Netherlands in the semi-finals of the UEFA tournament was a tough proposition, even for The Killers. The gig had to go ahead, so how could the band acknowledge and accommodate all the football fans in the crowd?

The group decided that it would be best if they paused their set to show the last bit of the match in real time with the score tied at 1-1. Risky move because the game could have gone either way.

Fortunately for The Killers, the crowd, and the English side, the ending could not have been better. England scored the winner in the 90th minute, advancing to the final against Spain on Sunday. And then the band launched into “Mr. Brightside,” a song that’s been on and off the British charts for a record eight years–a new Guinness Book of World Records achievement.

It went down like this.
