Eddie Vedder formed a new band to help out Kings of Leon

Kings of Leon were supposed to perform at the Ohana Festival in California but had to pull out when the mother of the three brothers, Betty Ann Followill, passed away. With a slot on the bill open, Eddie Vedder stepped in with a band he formed right then and there.

The group featured Chad Smith of the RHCP on drums, ex-Chiils guitarist and now touring Pearl Jam dude, Josh Klinghoffer, and a few others.

The new group–I don’t think they even had time to come up with a name–roared through a bunch of covers from REM, Prince, and yes, Kings of Leon. Check it out.

    • I miss live music. What I don’t miss is people who feel the need to have a good damn conversation about what they are seeing as they are seeing it… Thank you to the guys in the background who proceed to name everyone on stage and say how mind blowing it is while missing the song because they are talking over it….

  • Just a heads up, The Earthlings were not formed on the spot, they have been working together for a bit. They are doing all the music for a new movie called, Flagday. Eddie’s daughter Olivia sings the main track for the movie!

  • Don’t forget to mention a excellent musician Glen Hansard from Dublin that played with Eddie Vedder and the rest.
