Eddie Vedder will have his own MLB series this season

It’s well known that Eddie Vedder is a major baseball fan, often showing Chicago Cubs games and sometimes singing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” Now he’s part of a new series called The Vedder Cup, a six-game series between San Diego (an adopted hometown back in the day) and Seattle (his current hometown.) The trophy is being designed right now with Eddie’s input and will include one of his guitars.

Another part of this is the EB Research Partnership, a non-profit founded by Eddie and his wife Jill that funds research into a childhood skin disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa. There’s also official merch coming.

What happens if after six games the series is tied? Then we default to run differential. If that doesn’t break the tie, the team with the highest exit velocity recorded on a hit during one of the games will win.
