Ex Devil Wears Prada drummer and Sum 4’s former agent die in fiery private jet crash in San Diego
At around 3:45 am PT on Thursday (May 22), another plane fell out of the sky in America. This time, it was a Cessna 550, a light corporate jet that fell into a San Diego neighbourhood called Murphy Canyon (a US Navy military housing area) after clipping a powerline in dense fog. While no one on the ground was seriously hurt, the fire damaged several houses, destroyed several dozen vehicles (some melted in the intense heat), and required more than 100 people to evacuate. The plane went down on descent about two miles from the San Diego airport.
The pilot was Dave Shapiro, a booking agent from Sound Talent Group. He found gigs for Sum 41, Silverstein, I Prevail, Lamb of God, Pierce the Veil, Parkway Drive, and Hanson. He was also the owner of Daviator LLC, the company to which the jet was registered. Two employees of Sound Talent Group, another of Shapiro’s companies, also died. Shapiro had 15 years of experience as a pilot.
Also among the six people onboard was Daniel Williams, the drummer for The Devil Wears Prada between 2005 and 2016. He posted this before the flight.
