When CDs were still a major thing for me, I made sure that whenever I was in Los Angeles I’d find time to drop a few hundred dollars at the Tower Records store on Sunset.
In its prime, this was an amazing store. I found stuff there–especially imports, CD singles and compilations–that I’d never seen before.
But times change. CD sales collapsed after Napster and Tower fell into bankruptcy. The Sunset store (along with all the rest of them) closed. Now, after unsuccessfully trying to have the location saved as a historic landmark, the place will be demolished.
