Fan voting for the Rock and Roll Hall fame is over. And the winner is… (Sorry NIN fans)
Every year when it comes to voting on who should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the old boys’ club behind the process throws a sop to the fans by allowing us a very, very, very small say on who should get in.
This is the fan voting procedure. Whoever the fans say should win will count as one (1) vote in amongst the 900+ industry people who make the final decision.
Big deal, right? But it does give us a tiny bit of insight into which artists resonate with the public at large.
Fan voting for the class of 2020 closed on Friday. Here’s what the people said.
- Dave Matthews Band, 1,005,657 votes
- Pat Benetar, 882,207
- Doobie Brothers, 784,729
- Soundgarden, 722,951
- Judas Priest, 675,434
Those top five have the best chances of making into the Hall. But before you get your hopes up, only 61% of artists in this fan voting business since 2013 have actually inducted.
The also-rans:
- Whitney Houston, 593,374
- Depeche Mode, 563,612
- Thin Lizzy, 556,476
- Motorhead, 512,918
- Todd Rundgren, 440,898
- Nine Inch Nails, 380.869
- T.Rex, 365,290

Once again, Slayer keeps getting ignored Alan. It’s a a god damn travesty!!!
This is bs. I was at the R&R HOF in August. Several of these acts were not even in the top 10. YOU SLIGHTED STYX AGAIN and even tho they still have every concert sold out, you screwed REO. FAN VOTES COUNT FOR NOTHING. You know damn well who you are giving it to and fans votes are not considered. Is Steve Miller in there? You have to do better. THIS IS A JOKE. BTW Whitney Houston is NOT ROCK.
