First Official Bob Marley Documentary Gets a Release Day

The best anyone can tell–and there’s some dispute–Bob Marley was born 67 years ago yesterday: February 6, 1946, in Nine Mile, Saint Ann’s Parish, Jamaica.  The family took the occasion to announce distribution of the first approved documentary on Bob.

Magnolia Pictures has won the distribution rights to Marley, a film made by Oscar-winning documentarian Kevin McDonalds.  He was given all kinds of access to the Marley family archives, so this promises to be a pretty in-depth look at one of the most important musicians of the 20th century.

Marley will receive a world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival on Thursday night.  North American theatres will see it April 20.
