Former RHCP guitarist Josh Klinghoffer will not go to jail on manslaughter charges.
Back on March 19 of last year, former RHCP guitarist and a touring member of Pearl Jam, Josh Klinghoffer, was driving his 2022 GMC Yukon through Alhambra, California, when he made a left turn, running into a pedestrian. Israel Sanchez was crossing the street at a marked crossing. According to reports, Sanchez “was dragged across the asphalt as a result of the collision and sustained blunt force trauma to his head, injuries that ultimately killed him only hours later.”
At the time of the accident, it was alleged that Josh was on his phone. The Yukon may have had no plates, either. The family sued for wrongful death last summer.
As for criminal charges, Josh appeared in court this week and pleaded no contest to misdemeanour vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence. His sentence is one year of informal behavior and sixty days of community service. He is also required to take a full driver safety class. Details on any restitution will be determined later.
