Four people were killed and 16 were injured at a drive-by shooting at record release show in Chicago

Rapper Mello Buckzz was performing as part of release party for his new record when there was a drive-by shooting in the River North neighbourhood of Chicago Wednesday night (July 2).

At around 11pm, three gunmen passing by in a dark SUV opened fire into a crowd as they were leaving the Artis Lounge nightclub on the 300 block of West Chicago Avenue. Two men and two women are dead. Among the 16 injured, four are in hospital in critical condition.

It’s possible that Mello Buckzz herself may have been a victim. She released a statement on social media: “Prayers up for all my sisters god please wrap yo arms around every last one of them…Feel like everything just weighing down on me…all I can do is talk to god and pray.”

No arrests yet but police say they’re looking for suspects.

Back in 2022, Artis Lounge was known as Hush Lounge. There was a shooting then, too, which saw one person killed and three wounded.
