A Fresh Look at Glenn Gould

Glenn Gould remains one of the most important musicians this country has ever produced.  And since he himself experimented with audio in ways that we might call mashups today–but was huge into deconstruction and reconstruction of sound–I have a feeling that Mr. Gould would approve of what a group called The Uninvited Guests are doing with his music.

I like this, and Gould is a lifelong hero. But you really don’t hear much Gould in this construction. If you’re going to do a Gould mashup, let’s really hear his playing, put into new contexts.
