Fresh off their World Cup protest, Pussy Riot has two new songs about Russian law enforcement
If you think back to the World Cup final between France and Croatia, there was a field invasion in the 52nd minute. Those were four members of the band Pussy Riot who wanted to bring more attention to Russian human rights abuses. They were arrested and sentenced to a couple of weeks in a “special prison.”
But they won’t be deterred. There are two new Pussy Riot songs out today that focus on Russian law enforcement.
The first is based on a Russian “prison chanson,” which is something convicts sing to keep spirits up and to annoy the guards.
There’s a second song, too, but because I don’t speak Russian, I’m not sure what it’s about. I do know this: Putin won’t like it.
