From the Department of Duh: Metalheads are the Most Loyal Music Fans

If you’re into metal (or know someone who is), you’ll know what kind of loyalty I’m talking about.

Metal Injection reports on a study conducted by Spotify which displayed the results in a graph that compares metal loyalty with what they found with fans of other genres.

They also break things down country by country, but because Canada has only had Spotify since October, there’s no meaningful data for us.  But when they do this a year from now, you know what’s going to be on top, right?

On a semi-related topic, did you know that it only takes 28 seconds to damage your hearing at a really, really loud concert? And that a metal musician is twice as likely to die young as a country one?

Another way of interpreting the same data is that metalheads are the least interested/least tolerant of other kinds of music.

I spent my high school years amongst the metalheads and they were some of the nicest and fun people I’ve ever spent time with. They were open to all sorts of misfits, as long as you loved the music. Good community.
