This Fun Music Video Comes with a Really, Really Sad Story

Things were going well for Viola Beach, a four-piece British indie band touted for success by people such as Coldplay’s Chris Martin. Then came Valentine’s Day, 2016.

For reasons that are still unclear, the band’s car–driven by their manager–ran off a bridge just south of Stockholm, plunging 80 feet into a river killing everyone in the Nissan minivan. I can’t remember another incident where an entire band plus their management was wiped out in a single swoop. (More on the story here.)

This week, the band’s family and friends revealed an animated video for Viola Beach’s “The Boys That Sing.” The story behind the video can be found here.
