Gift idea: Kid-sized Fender electric guitars

I’m starting to hear anecdotes about kids again wanting to form bands. After years of fiddling with laptops and other electronics, more and more of them are discovering the joy of making music together in a band with real instruments. (The Globe and Mail had an article on this very thing last Saturday. But do you think I can find it online now?)

One of the difficulties of starting young is that you’re small and the instruments can be big and heavy, especially when it comes to electric guitars. Kudos then to Loog and Fender for their kid-sized Strats and Telecaster collections, something that they launched in 2003. And now there’s a new addition.

This new version–the Sonic Blue–has its roots in a full-sized guitar released in the early 60s. There are several other models to choose from, too. Go here for more. Hey, get ’em started early. Why not this Christmas?
