Glastonbury 2014 Wrap Up: Set Lists, Dolly Parton and Michael Eavis

Glastonbury, the world’s best-known and most-hyped music festival, is done for another year. Here are a few takeaways:

1. Founder Michael Eavis has been running the festival on Worthy Farm since 1970. He’s 78 now but thinks he can hang on until Glastonbury celebrates is 50th anniversary in 2020.

2. Acts have already been booked for next year, but Eavis refuses to say who.

3. Glastonbury occasionally takes a year off (a “fallow year”). The last time that happened was in 2012 when a chronic shortage of porta-potties caused by the London Olympics made it impossible to stage a festival. The next fallow year will be in 2017.

4. Dolly Parton was announced at this year’s festival for selling 100 million albums. I’ll say that again: Dolly Parton, 100 million albums.

5. Lars Ulrich was most excited to see Dolly.
