A Good Interview with Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem

Brian Fallon wears his heart on his sleeve, so much so that he put a caricature of it on the cover of The Gaslight Anthem’s new album Get Hurt.The politely tattooed singer’s Jersey-bred band has achieved international recognition foremotionally-charged anthems like “The ’59 Sound” and “Great Expectations”. But after several studio efforts featuring their brand of homegrown heartland punk, it was apparently time for a change.“We had gotten to the point where we started to feel like, OK, we’ve kind of done our thing that we do for the previous four records; we’ve kind of done it to the point where we didn’t have any more ideas in that genre and we kind of said, ‘Well, y’know, there’s two options when you come to this crossroad, and that’s stop making music, or come up with something new.”
