Google’s list of the most-searched songs of 2022 will surprise you

‘Tis the time of year-end lists when we look back to see what happened over the past 12 months. Google has just released the ten most-search songs for 2022 and the results are interesting.

  1. “Tak Ingin Usai” by Keisya Levronka
  2. “Pasoori” by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill
  3. “Glimpse of Us” by Joji
  4. “Satru 2” by Denny Caknan and Happy Asmara
  5. “Mixed Nuts (ミックスナッツ)” by Official Hige Dandism
  6. “新 時代” by Ado
  7. “As It Was” by Harry Styles
  8. “Joko Tingkir” by Farel Prayoga
  9. “Habit” by Sekai no Owari
  10. “Last Last” by Burna Boy

Only one of those ten songs is by a Western artist. Wild, huh?

  • That one Western artist is Harry Styles, of course.
  • The most-searched song on the world, “Tak Ingin Usai” (“Don’t Want to End”), is by an Indonesian singer. Keisya Levronka’s track was a monster throughout the country with the fourth-highest population in the world.
  • The second-most-searched song, “Pasoori” (“Trouble”), is a Punjabi and Urdu track by a Pakistani singer. It has a reggaeton-style beat, too.
  • Joji (#3) is from Japan and sings primarily in English. His song reached number one in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines. It was also a top ten hit in Canada, the US, Ireland, Norway, and Vietnam.
