Google’s New App Banishes the Bar-Is-Too-Busy Blue

Have you every had your heart set on going to a certain bar only to find that once you get there it’s too crowded? Sure you could get in, but there are no tables, there’s no space at the bar and when you walk around you bump into people who spill their drink on you. Not fun, especially if you were hoping for a quiet drink.

Google has come up with an addition to their “popular times” feature. It’s a little bar graph that tells you when a certain location tends to be the busiest.

The new tweak on this is the app will now tell you how crowded a place is in real time. It will also tell you how long people tend to say in one place so you can anticipate when a crowded bar may open up.

It’s rolling out now and you’ll be able to find it in both Maps and search. Could be handy when it comes to the crowded Christmas season, right?
