Gord Downie to Reappear in Concert!

Okay, so the Hip may never tour again (although they’ve never really said that), but there’s nothing stopping Gord Downie from moving ahead with some solo plans.

We already know about Secret Path, his upcoming album, graphic novel and film. Now he has a show scheduled for the National Arts Centre in Ottawa (October 18) and two at Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto (both on Friday, October 21).

Back to the album/novel/film project for a second: Secret Path is the true story of Chanie Wenjack, a 12-year-old boy who died while trying to escape Cecilia Jeffrey Residential School near Kenora, Ontario, fifty years ago. His goal was to walk 400 miles back home to his family. He never made it. Gord had this to say about Chanie earlier this month.

Tickets for the two Toronto shows will go on sale Friday, September 23 here. Proceeds will go towards reconciliation efforts.
