This Got My Attention: MiNETA’s Epic Rock Opera

When I first saw the email, I thought, “Another rock opera concept? Puh-leez.” But then I took a closer look. Now I’m intrigued.

MiNETA is a Toronto outfit that defies description. Their performances are super-theatrical and involved plenty of crowd participation. They’re now working on Circus Rock Opera: A Circus Rock Opera. Yes, that’s written correctly. Arty, the drummer, provides this synopsis:

Artzerker and Opar go on an epic journey through hell with death-defying stunts, wild circus tricks, hilarious antic, cringeworthy sideshow stunts, even get on to the TTC all to save the Rock Goddess and together defeat the evil Dr. Ache (ahem–Drake), who has taken over the world with his shitty shitty mumble rap. All in the name of Rock to rule the world again!

If things go according to schedule, the production will open in May. Meanwhile, here’s a teaser video. Who wouldn’t want to see this?
