  • While I admire their optimism, I just don’t share it.

Everyday, I, the regular radio listener, gets another listening option, another method of distraction, be it a cool new podcast, another niche station on Spotify or another new music stream on Itunes that sounds like it has hand curated to appeal to just me. Every one of those options takes more of my remaining awake minutes away from regular AM/FM radio.

My regular radio time is either in the shower (waterproof radio!) or in my car listening to news/traffic to get where I am going, virtually none of my time is listening to radio hosts. Last time I checked, my 50 year old white upper-median income ears were coveted advertiser property, and they are very rarely tuned to regular AM/FM radio.
