Green Day and 7-Eleven reveal a “Bluetooth drinking straw”

Score one for plastic straws, I guess.

Earlier this year, Green Day announced a partnership with 7-Eleven to sell a new Slurpee called “Kerplunk Kandy Grape Slurpee.” Not only does it come in a collectible cup, but there’s also a custom straw featuring built-in Bluetooth speakers.”

Why? Each cup has a QR code that sends Slurpeephiles to a Green Day playlist on Spotify. Connect your phone to the included mini-Bluetooth speaker (it comes with the straw; how the straw is Bluetooth-enabled is unclear) and you can listen to a flood of Green Day hits.

Clever marketing, no?
