Green Day’s 20th anniversary edition of American Idiot is out

Just before American Idiot was released in the fall of 2004, a bunch of us were invited into a boardroom at Warner Music Canada for a preview of the new album. Going into the meeting, most of us were skeptical because it was common knowledge that Green Day was done and their best years were behind them. We were wrong. Very, very wrong.

American Idiot went on to become one of the most important rock records of the 21st century, selling tens of millions of copies around the world and spawning a successful musical.

Twenty years on, there’s a new anniversary edition in a big box set featuring the original material, a ton of demos, a live run-through of the album, and more.
