The Grindmother–The Death Metal-Singing Canadian Grandmother–Debuts in New York

Some people find their calling late in life. Martha Stewart’s career really didn’t get started until she was 41. Harland Sanders–Colonel Sanders to you KFC fans–was a perpetual failure until he sold his first chicken franchise at 65. And then there’s Grandma Moses who didn’t pick up painting until she was well into her 70s.

This brings us to Grindmother, an actual grandmother from Windsor, Ontario, who discovered her talent for singing grindcore when she was 67. Back in January 2015, a band called Corrupt Leaders handed the mic over to the mother of vocalist Rain Forest to record some guest vocals for one of their songs.

This worked out so well that Mama Forest was dubbed The Grindmother–and the hits just kept on coming.

Then the publicity began.

Grindmother is now on tour with ACxDC and Cloud Bat with more roadtrips scheduled with Seeker, Cognitive and Wvrm. In the past month, the group made its New York debut.
