Guess Which Band Is the Latest to Cancel a Summer Tour Because of Health Problems?

In a year that’s been filled with concert injuries, another body has been added to the pile: Chad Kroeger of Nickelback

Chad has a cyst on his vocal cords–a dicey thing for anyone, let alone a singer–that requires surgical removal. It’s bad enough that the surgery has to be done ASAP–it’s being called a medical emergency–which means sayonara to the No Fixed Address Tour.

While this cancellation probably won’t carry the same gravitas as the Foo Fighters’ issues as the result of Dave Grohl’s broken leg, this is still bad news for the concert industry and the music fan.

How so? Tours require cancellation insurance in case something unforeseen happens to the headliner. When these policies have to pay out, the risk is spread among everyone in the form of future higher premiums. And who pays for that? You, in the form of higher ticket prices.
