I was a little shocked to see this piece of news:
“U2 Lands No. 1 on Top Facebook Live Videos Chart with New Album Tease”
Billboard reports that U2 hit the number one spot on the Facebook Live charts with a ton of hits on “The Blackout”. That song was a teaser for the new album Songs of Experience, due out December 1st.
The band performed “The Blackout” on Aug. 30 on the service, accruing 11.1 million views in its first seven days.
As U2 gears up for a brand new album later this year, the band reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Facebook Live Videos chart for August 2017 after premiering new music from the LP on Aug. 30.
Between this and news of U2’s new single “You’re The Best Thing About Me” has been picked up on radio playlists across the U.S., it appears that U2 is ready to make a play for people’s hearts, and dollars, one more time. Will it work? Time will tell.
