What Happens When a Brutal, Thuggish Terrorist Group Has the Same Name As Your Band?

While ISIS continues to behead, execute and bury people alive through Syria and Iraq, a Boston band finds themselves in a tough spot. That’s because their name is ISIS, too.

ISIS–the band, who took their name from the ancient Egyptian god of (ironically) health, marriage and love–has been around since 1997 and have released a total nine albums.  They sound like this.

ISIS (the band) finally called it a day in 2010 but members continue to work on other musical projects.  Then these crazy Islamist bastards start causing havoc across the Middle East and beheading journalists on video. This has forced the band to change their Facebook page to “Isis the Band,” just in case there was any confusions.  And there was.  For one thing, they’ve had to retire their t-shirts.

And they’re not the only band so afflicted.  There was an Australian band called Isis who broke up in 1998.  And back in the 70s, there was an all-female horn-rock band with that name.
