Has anyone seen Arkells’ instruments? The airline lost them.

Anyone who’s recently traveled by air with anything more than a carry-on knows the misery of checking and picking up baggage. Imagine the Arkells‘ situation. The airline they used to get to Saskatoon for the SaskTel Jazz Festival Saturday night (July 2)–the band isn’t saying which one, but there aren’t many to choose from–lost all their gear. But with a gig to play, the show must go on.

All right, that’s a hassle, but bands have had their instruments lost/stolen countless times on tour. Arkells did what they had to and borrowed gear from a local band so they could play.

But then the opening act had their flight canceled, leaving the lead singer the only one in town for the show. Arkells, being the nice fellas they are, spent a couple of hours learning that band’s songs so the singer could have his moment in the sun.
