Here are the key dates for the 2020 Polaris Music Prize

It’s Polaris Music Prize time again. Music wonks from all across the country (yours truly included) are already nominated and debating the merits of Canadian albums eligible for the 2020 vote.

Here are the key dates for this yea:

June 15: Long List announcement (200+ albums narrowed down to a field of 40).

July 15: Short List announcement (The winnowing for 40 to 10 finalists.)

September 21: Polaris Prize Gala at The Carlu in Toronto.

At that event, final selection will be done by an 11-member jury. As last year, the grand prize winner will receive $50,000 cash for having the best Canadian album of the last year. The other nine Short Listers will each receive $3,000.

Game on.
