Here are the key dates for the 2021 Polaris Music Prize

The Polaris Music Prize is back for 2021. Nominations and debates about a vast array of new Canadian albums are happening right now (I’m part of the jury, so I’ve been watching them come in). Such debates will continue until late spring when there will be a vote for the Long List. From there, we move to the short list, and the winner event in the fall.

This year’s dates are:

  • Long list announcement: June 15
  • Short list announcement: July 15.
  • Winner event: TBA. They’re hoping that vaccinations will have progressed to the point where we can go back to having a big in-person gala. But we’ll see.
