Here are the latest developments with the Astroworld festival tragedy
There are plenty of questions surrounding why eight people died and more than 300 were injured during Travis Scott’s set at the Astroworld Festival in Houston this past Friday (November 5). Here’s the latest.
At least 18 lawsuits have been filed with 15 of them naming Travis Scott as a defendant. The arguments are partly based on Scott’s reputation of encouraging fans to go wild and behave recklessly at his shows. For example:
Authorities want to know if illegal drugs played a role. Someone is looking into the possibility that pills laced with fentanyl were being sold or passed around. This is in addition to rumours (now confirmed) that someone was going around with a syringe poking people in the neck or other parts of the body.
Drake, who joined Scott onstage as all this was going down in the crowd, released a statement. He’s a named in several lawsuits,
Live Nation, the promoter of the event, released this statement.
Travis Scott has promised to pay for the funeral expenses for all eight victims.
