The Mercury Prize, the UK’s version of (and inspiration for) our Polaris Music Prize, has announced the nominees for 2025. As always, these are the finalists for the best British and Irish album over the last year regardless of commercial success or genre.

- Emma-Jean Thackray: ‘Weirdo’
- FKA twigs: ‘EUSEXUA’
- Fontaines D.C.: ‘Romance’
- Jacob Alon: ‘In Limerence’
- Joe Webb: ‘Hamstrings & Hurricanes’
- Martin Carthy: ‘Transform Me Then Into A Fish’ (At the age of 84, he’s the oldest nominee ever.)
- Pa Salieu: ‘Afrikan Alien’
- PinkPantheress: ‘Fancy That’
- Pulp: ‘More’
- Sam Fender: ‘People Watching’
- Wolf Alice: ‘The Clearing’ (Their fourth nomination; they won in 2018.)
The awards show will happen on October 16 at Utilia Arena in Newcastle. This is the first time that the finale will be held outside of London.
