Here are the winners of the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. Wait: They’re still a thing?
To my surprise, I learned today that MTV held its Video Music Awards last night. I honestly had no idea, given that MTV doesn’t show music videos anymore. But, okay. Here’s a report.
- Taylor Swift won a lot of the awards. Shocking.
- There was a dedicated Swift Cam. She danced.
- A few other people won awards.
- Olivia Rodrigo’s set “collapsed” during her performance.
- The broadcast drew only 865,000 viewers on MTV in the US. Yes, less than a million viewers in a country of 330 million. That’s up 37% from last year, but it’s still miniscule. BEYOND miniscule. The MTV VMAs are no longer required viewing. They haven’t been for years.
That’s all I care to write about this.
Interesting how all but Måneskin in the Best Rock category are all legacy acts. Where has all the rock gone?
