Here is the Long List for the 2019 Polaris Music Prize

After an endless parade of nominations (there were actually 233 albums put up for consideration) and an even more endless round of debates, the 200+ music boffins from across Canada were asked to vote on what albums should make the Long List for the 2019 Polaris Music Prize. That list was made public today.

This is only a preliminary culling of the herd. Another round of voting will take place in the next few weeks resulting in the release of the Short List on July 16.

After that, there’s nothing to do but wait until the Gala event on September 16. That’s one of the short-listers will win $50,000. That winner will be picked by the Grand Jury, 11 people good and true selected from the entire Polaris music panel.
