Here’s a look at the big Beatles Anthology box set that’s out tomorrow

When The Beatles were together and recording at Abbey Road (then known as EMI Recording Studios), they saved everything. Because there’s so much stuff in the vault, we’re still getting new Beatles material 55 years after they broke up.

The latest is Anthology 2025, a collection of archival material, the fourth of its kind. Fully remastered by Giles Martin (son of George), its release coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Anthology book. It also continues with the project that was originally launched in 1971(!!!) but took more than two decades to see the light of day.

On November 26, Disney+ will start running the accompanying eight-part Anthology TV series, originally released in the mid-90s but now completely upscaled for 21st viewing. A ninth episode has been added. Peter Jackson, the Lord of Rings director and Beatles superfan who created the Get Back series, was involved in cleaning everything up. (I was at a special screening of the new version of Episode 1 and Episode 9 this week. Brilliant stuff.)

Here’s the tracklisting for the new collection.
