Here’s an update on the D4vd situation

If you’re just joining the story, here’s a recap. Back on September 8, someone noticed a terrible smell coming from a Tesla Model X in an LA impound lot. When police opened the front boot, they found the body of a 15-year-old runaway named Celeste Rivas Hernandez. She’d been missing for about a year.

It was easy enough to track down the owner of the Tesla: Rapper D4vd, the performing name of David Anthony Burke, He hasn’t been arrested or charged,–he hasn’t even been named as a suspect–but police are curious for a variety of reasons. D4vd has canceled his world tour as this plays out and is reported to be cooperating with the investigation.

The latest info says that Celeste’s body had been in the Tesla for “several weeks” before it was found.

Scot M. Williams of the LAPD released a statement to People saying that while there are a ton of questions (duh), “we know for sure that Celeste Rivas Hernandez died and someone placed her body in the front trunk area of [D4vd’s] Tesla.” It had been towed to the impound lot a number of weeks earlier.

“The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not determined a cause or manner of her death, so we don’t know for sure if anyone has any criminal culpability for her death beyond the concealment of her dead body.”
