Here’s our weekly check on Canadian sales of CDs and vinyl

It’s not even a battle anymore. Vinyl will win over CDs in 2025. The question is by how much. Here are the latest sales figures courtesy Luminate.

  • CDs sold in Canada last week: 26,303 (down 13.1% from last week)
  • Vinyl sales in Canada last week: 47,649 (up 33.1% from a week ago, thanks to the sales on Record Store Day).
  • CDs sold in Canada this year: 444,829 (down 1.0% from a year ago)
  • Vinyl sold in Canada this year: 512,558 (up a whopping 24.8% year over year)

Streaming numbers:

  • Songs streamed in Canada last week: 2,932,106,115 (up 1.0% from last week)
  • Songs streamed in Canada so far this year: 42,142,699,096 (up 6,1% from last year at this time)
