Here’s the first trailer for the Spike Jonze-directed Beastie Boys documentary

Spike Jonze did a lot of music video work with the Beastie Boys (cf. the clip for “Sabotage“). He recently turned his attention to creating a documentary on the group.

Beastie Boys Story will premiere in IMAX theatres on April 3 (the 26th anniversary of the release of Ill Communication). From there it will move to Apple TV+, meaning you’ll need a subscription to see it.

The film is based on the two-man show staged by Ad Rock and Mike D last year and is billed as “a live documentary experience.” There are lots of stories, lost footage, and laughs. Here’s a the first official trailer.
