Here’s the latest in the Canadian sales battle between CDs and vinyl.

There’s not enough time left in the year for sales of fresh vinyl to surpass CDs. But at the pace things are going, the two sales lines will cross sometime in 2025. Meanwhile, here’s what’s happened over the last week.

  • Total CD sales in Canada last week: 33,029 (down 1.2% from the previous week)
  • Total vinyl sales in Canada last week: 31,542 (down 1.3% from a week earlier)
  • CD sales in all of Canada this year: 1,452,388 (down 12% from this point in 2023)
  • Vinyl sales in all of Canada this year: 1,303,405 (up 26.1%)

For streaming, we have this:

  • Songs streamed in Canada last week: 2,727,046,662 (up 0.1% from last week)
  • Songs streamed in Canada this year: 125,475,165,942 (up 9.9% from a year ago)
