Besides Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks, and maybe one or two others, Adele is one of the few artists on the planet who can still sell physical units by the boatload. Or at least she was when she released her 25 album. The last count on that one is global sales of 22 million.
But that was six years ago and much in the music world has continued to change. She knows that. Her management knows that. Her label knows that. I wonder what their sales expectations are for 30 when it comes out on November 19? No pressure.
This is the first single. Thoughts? (As I write this 21 hours after the video debut, it’s already received 36,051,506 views.) At the same time, big pop radio stations on both US coasts are ignoring the song.
