Here’s your weekly update on the Canadian CD vs. vinyl sales battle

CDs and vinyl have been slugging it out for sale supremacy in Canada. Here’s the latest on the race courtesy of Luminate.

  • Total CD sales-to-date in 2024 as of last week: 669,812 (down 16.6% from a year ago.
  • Viny? 616,437
  • CD sales last week: 34,881 (up 11.6% from a week earlier, probably because of Billie Eilish)
  • Vinyl sales last week: 26,813 (up 6.9%)

Streaming? We’ve listened to 56,584,663,074 songs so far this year. That’s up 11.6% from this point in 2023. We listened to 2,819,194,459 songs.
