How a Tiny Indie Artist Outsold Justin Timblerlake

I’d never heard of Alex Day until I read this post on TechCrunch.  Now I want to know all I can about the guy.

The chart at the right is a snapshop of what was happening on iTunes the day after both albums were released.

How the hell did this guy manage to outsell Justin Timberlake, an established artist with the full force of the music industry behind him?

Yes, he’s married to Jessica Biel.  But I still hadn’t heard of him.  And that has nothing to do with this accomplishment.

If you’re an indie artist, read on.  There are some very valuable tips here.

  • …wait, who's married to Jessica Biel?

Alex Day is not married to JT, Alan. The other guy in the article above is.

  • I feel like that screengrab was taken at a favorable moment for Alex Day. The fact that it's the UK chart and that Day's album was released a day earlier are important factors to consider. I'd like to see how that chart looks right now. Or in a week.

Oh, and as the previous commenter already pointed out, JT is married to Jessica Biel. Quite famously so, in fact.
