How do we feel about this Balenciaga death metal t-shirt? It’s not cheap. Nor is any of the other metal stuff they’re selling.

A couple of things. Metal bands have some of the interesting (read: complicated and unreadable) logos. Second, I thought metal was a music for the everymanperson. This is not.

Balenciaga, the French fashion brand, has decided that it needs to co-opt metal culture for a new line of insanely priced gear. (Once you’re done, take a look at this.)

Let’s start with the t-shirt. It’s just US$825.

The backpack (US$1250)

The hat is just US$495.

Still too much? How about a pair of socks for just US$150?

    I have questions.

    First…WTF?

    Second…who actually buys this stuff?

Third, I have a vintage Darkthrone shirt. Will sell for half the cost of the Balencia knock off.

Cultural appropriation of us metal heads all in the name of the almighty dollar.

    Only if we allow it
    Do not buy it
    Do not support it
    Simple.
Those prices are laughable at the demographic they are trying to rip off
