How’s the sales battle between vinyl and CDs going this week?

There’s new Luminate data about the sales race between vinyl and CDs in Canada. These numbers reflect where we were as of March 28.

  • CD sales to date in 2024: 408,631 (down -22.3% from the same time last year)
  • LP sales to date in 2024: 382,366 (up 25.5%)
  • CD sales for the week ending March 28: 28,455 (down 9.4% from the previous week)
  • LP sales for the week ending March 28: 23,674 (down 14.2% from the previous week)

If you’re following streaming consumption, Canadians have streamed 36,943,046,624 songs so far this year. That’s up 11.2% from this time in 2023. Just last week, we streamed 2,654,622,542 songs.
