I Like This: Ann Brun’s Cover Of Neighbourhood

Another submission from special correspondent Brent Chittenden . – AC

Before we go much further, let me first say that I’m not a fan of Arcade Fire. Not that they’re bad or
anything, I just don’t get the big deal.

That being said, I love this cover of Neighborhood #1(Tunnels) from Norway’s Ann Brun boils the song
down to a voice and guitar which sounds rather delicate and soulful. Can’t go wrong with this free

  • Arcade Fire are totally brilliant. Haven't heard an album is the truest sense of the word like The Suburbs for years and years….it took me a minute to realise how ace the tracks are from Funeral and Neon Bible, but I came around. I suggest working hard at it. Well worth the payoff.

  • Hear hear Alan! I feel the same way about Arcade Fire. Couple of songs are pretty interesting, but it's hardly worth all the hype they get!

    Adam,
"I suggest working hard at it." I get giving a record some listens to fully appreciate it. But if I gotta work hard a liking a band… I just don't like 'em.

  • I didn't get Arcade fire for awhile either……then i saw them live at osheaga just before they released the suburbs. After that i was hooked and i've been to every show they've played between Toronto and Montreal.

  • Brad, agreed. You just don't like them. Yet. That's the point. If you work hard at it, and it pays off, (it will) , it's very rewarding. That's my point. Very much worth it. Catch is, you can't be stubborn nor lazy.
